I am having a issue with the furnace right now. The furnace will start the sequence of going through the start up and the vent valve keeps cycling. The relay will start to chatter when it gets open. I think it is supposed to stop there, but it doesn't. The vent valve just keeps turning shutting off the flame. And then starts the cycle over each time. Could this be a bad vent valve or part of the flame module?

The model number you have provided is incomplete. However, it sounds like your describing the Penn system that was used on the G12E series that used an optional vent damper in the vent pipe (flue pipe).

Are you saying that the vent damper is opening and closing?

The full model number is G12D2E-82-6. That is the Model number off of the tag on the inside panel.
And yes the vent damper opens and closes. It does stop for a brief moment that the furnace will start up and start producing heat. Then the relay in the vent damper control box clicks and then the vent damper starts opening and closing all over again.

The vent damper is operated by the ignition control. Check the control voltage that is going to the ignition control from the thermostat and limit circuit. If the voltage to the control is doing off and on, check limits and thermostat circuit. If it is not going off and on, check flame current or at least clean flame sensor. If the voltage to the ignition control is not going off and on, the problem is either low flame current or issues with the ignition control.

Now I am assuming that the control voltage should be 24 volts? If that is correct then the control voltage is not dropping and staying consistent. Going to check the flame current now. Will get back to you in a little bit. Thanks for your help so far.
